From the Collection:

One March 1918 photograph by International Film Service of the Russian Steamship Omsk at Norfolk, Virginia. The typed caption attached to the back of the photograph reads, "Armed United States sailors boarded the Russian steamship Omsk at Norfolk, Va. and arrested the crew on the charge of mutiny. The ship was run on Bolshevik principles of community management but the crew finally got beyond control of the ship's officers who called on the authorities at Norfolk for help. It is the same ship which was held at a Pacific port last December because of the Bolshevik arrangement of management. Many murderous weapons were found among the effects of the crew." There is a prominent view of Norfolk Terminal Station in the background.
