Correspondence and clippings documenting Baron Jean de Lustrac's attempt to erect a monument in downtown Norfolk, Virginia in honor of French Admiral Francois Joseph Paul Comte de Grasse, whose success in the Battle of the Chesapeake in 1781 led to the British surrender at Yorktown, Virginia. The collection also includes correspondence and clippings relating to de Lustrac's acquiring of 10 replica cannons for Yorktown, suggesting to name the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel after de Grasse, and donating of model flagships of La Ville de Paris to the Museum of the Revolutionary War in Washington, D. C. and Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences in Norfolk, Virginia.
