From the Collection:

This collection is comprised of material relative to local history of the Tidewater region of Virginia, to include Jamestown, Suffolk, and the general Hampton Roads area, as well as the greater Virginia and West Virginia regions. Primary collection materials are ephemera from the 400th Anniversay Celebration event honoring Jamestown, Virginia, which includes brochures, guides, commemorative pins, a fan, admission tickets and bracelets, cachets, maps, and program guides. Additional collection materials include newsletters entitled "Riddick's Folly Notes" and "Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society", a Hampton Roads souvenir coloring book, a technical report from the City of Norfolk Department of Public Works about the development of Southside Library, and an original copy of a booklet of the "Speech of George W. Summers, Esq. of Kanawha in Committee of the Whole on the Basis Question" dated 1851.
