Nautical charts

Company records and correspondence, documents relating to licensing of oyster harvesting grounds, vessel records, seafood industry awards and publications, federal and state permits and regulation-related documents and publications, photographs and drawings, architectural and engineering drawings, nautical charts and shellfish grounds maps, and company artifacts including samples of oyster cans.

More than seven hundred maps, arranged in nine series to include the United States and East Coast (subdivided by region), Virginia and Regional, Hampton Roads (subdivided by locality, agency, and map type), Nautical Charts, Geological Maps, Aerial Photographs, Atlases, and Genealogies.

This collection primarily includes published materials relating to ships and maritime-related subjects. It includes booklets, nautical charts, and small magazines, with most materials dating between the 1930s and 1960s. Topics include the International Naval Review in Hampton Roads, Virginia, the S. S. United States, and training materials from the New York State Maritime Academy.

This collection consists of shipping records (lists of supplies provided to specific vessels, by date and vessel name), financial ledgers, correspondence, commercial brochures and informational items, charter/broker and legal documents, company operating records, and nautical charts.
