Three 1978 photographs of the SS United States when it was docked at Norfolk International Terminals in Norfolk, Virginia. Also, 15 photographs of ships in the Elizabeth River with a backdrop of downtown Norfolk during Liberty Sail of the Americas in 1986. Also, 14 photographs of the demolition of First American Bank at 300 Main Street on June 12, 1988 in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. Also, one undated aerial photograph featuring Mowbray Arch.

The drawing drafted by J.A. Parks depicts the Arena Stage/Center Theater complex from the northeast of an Army and Navy Recreation Building designed by architects C. A. Neff and T. David Fitz-Gibbon, circa 1941-1943.  The building is designed in the international style with some streamlined modern elements.  Construction of the building is reinforced concrete with Indiana limestone cladding and glass block fenstration arranged in vertical and horizontal ribbons.

Five certificates of appraisal created by The Norfolk Real Estate Board, Inc. of Norfolk, Virginia for the City of Norfolk from September 11, 1950 to October 12, 1950. Streets on which properties were assessed include Bute Street, Charlotte Street, Brewer Street, Boush Street, College Place, City Hall Avenue, Cumberland Street, Market Street, Main Street, Water Street, York Street, and Dartmouth Street. Most addresses include photographs of lots and structures.

This collection includes 35mm color photographic slides documenting development projects in downtown Norfolk, Virginia and in various city neighborhoods, development planning studies and projects around the city, and planning-related maps and graphics. Some aerial photographs are included. Some slides are missing.

Demolition permits issued by the City of Norfolk Department of Public Works, Division of Building inspection from 1893 to 1956. Each record item contains a building permit; some include associated correspondence and documents.

Records relating to the planning, design, and construction of a new downtown civic center (including a city hall, courts, a city jail, and administrative offices and buildings) and new cultural center (including various public buildings and spaces) in the area near the current Chrysler Museum. Included are planning reports, City Planning Commission records, city correspondence, and internal city memorandums and documents.
