Photographs include Porter as a young woman at Hampton University, school groups and local organizations associated with Porter, and family photographs.

Included are histories of massive resistance and the related closures of Norfolk Public Schools during 1958-1959, records of the city commission created to mark these events 50 years later, records of various public events, correspondence, and news clippings.
