Includes handwritten legal/court and commercial documents from the Borough of Norfolk and Norfolk County, Virginia, dated between 1800 and 1835. Also includes a Norfolk County land grant from 1692.

Primarily nineteenth century correspondence, legal documents, memorandums, photographs, and miscellaneous papers from the Allmand Family of Norfolk, Virginia. Also includes three 1828-1843 ledger books of John Allmand, one 1837-1840 letter book of John Allmand, and one book of religious interpretation, likely written by Reverend John Singer Wallace. This collection also includes legal documents from the Estate of William Keeling and the Stone family.

Records of Richard Stearns Dodson, Baltimore proprietor of the second Atlantic Hotel in Norfolk, Virginia. The collection includes business records in ledgers and cashbooks, including account information, bills, licenses, bonds, checks, ledgers, and notes associated with the operation of the Atlantic Hotel from 1872-1901.

Two 1864-1865 books containing copies of correspondence written by Captain W. D. Reynolds of the Subsistence Department in North Carolina. Also contains one 1865 receipt signed by James Sloan and one circa 1865 list of officers of the late Confederate States Navy.
