One book titled Art Work of Norfolk and Vicinity (Virginia), Portsmouth, Newport News, Berkley, Hampton, Old Point Comfort, published in 1895 by H. W. Kennicott & Co. The book has been disassembled and several sheets are missing. The content includes "A Sketch of Norfolk and Vicinity," and primarily includes circa 1895 prints of notable local places.

This collection includes 35mm color photographic slides documenting development projects in downtown Norfolk, Virginia and in various city neighborhoods, development planning studies and projects around the city, and planning-related maps and graphics. Some aerial photographs are included. Some slides are missing.

Scope and Contents Photographs of courthouses taken between 1977 and 1989 representing all 95 existing counties of Virginia. There are also courthouse photographs of former Warwick (Newport News), Nansemond (Suffolk), and Norfolk (present day Portsmouth) counties in this collection. There are no courthouse photographs for Elizabeth City (Hampton) or Princess Anne (Virginia Beach) counties. The Sargeant Memorial Collection Postcard Collection houses postcards from the Norfolk area, Hampton Roads, Richmond, Washington, D.C., the state of Virginia and surrounding states, and the Jamestown Exposition. Some postcards in the collection are postmarked from the early 1900s.

Scope and Contents This collection is comprised of material relative to local history of the Tidewater region of Virginia, to include Jamestown, Suffolk, and the general Hampton Roads area, as well as the greater Virginia and West Virginia regions.
