One 1815-1820 sketchbook containing nine pencil drawings by Andre Jules Francois de Martineng of St. Thomas, Fort Nelson, Fort Norfolk, Norfolk, Virginia, the United States Capitol, President's House, and Treasury, State, Navy, and War buildings in Washington, D. C. The sketchbook is labeled "Commodore Martineng" in gold lettering on the front near the spine.

Scope and Contents One 1830s ledger containing sketches of houses in the borough of Norfolk, Virginia. This sketchbook is likely a mortgage foreclosure portfolio from 1836 to 1850. All properties included in the sketchbook were held by the Bank of Virginia. Entries include color paintings of the foreclosed properties, architectural drawings, and the street the property was located on. Historical and biographical documents generally relating to the Tidewater area of Virginia, genealogy records, correspondence, maps, and photographs. Notably, this collection also contains several original English legal documents (such as deeds and wills) dating back to 1597 and the early 1600s.
