Contains a variety of ephemeral materials relating to Norfolk history and culture. Prominent subjects in the collection include Biographies, Buildings, Businesses, Churches, Clubs and Organizations, Colleges, Museums (especially the Chrysler Museum), Neighborhoods, and Schools. The bulk of the materials are from the 1950s-1980s, although there is a strong representation of materials dating from the 1920s to 2014.

Scope and Contents This collection is comprised of material relative to local history of the Tidewater region of Virginia, to include Jamestown, Suffolk, and the general Hampton Roads area, as well as the greater Virginia and West Virginia regions. Scope and Contents

The "Organizations" series is comprised of materials, such as meeting minutes and agendas, projects, newsletters, booklets, and fliers from individual local and regional organizations in the Tidewater area of Virginia. These include the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc.-Hampton Roads Chapter, the African American Historical Society Portsmouth, and the Mariner's Museum.

The "Conferences and Seminars" series is specifically comprised of local, regional, and national professional conferences and/or seminars hosted by an organization/society/association that are open to all members within the parent organization. This is separate from the "Organizations" series that deals primarily with local and regional chapter or organization day-to-day business.
