Scope and Contents

Two 1920s-1930s scrapbooks created by Martha Southgate Iredell. The scrapbooks feature newspaper clippings relating to the Norfolk German Club debutantes and Norfolk society, dance invitations, calling cards, wedding invitations, theater programs from Wells Theatre, and exhibit catalogs from the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences in Norfolk, Virginia.

Scope and Contents Three 1927-1944 scrapbooks containing photographs, newspaper clippings, postcards, correspondence, and other ephemera relating to Maury High School, Virginia State Teachers College, high school and college football, social engagements, sororities, wedding announcements, and the United States Navy during World War II. The first two scrapbooks dating from 1927 to 1935 and from 1935 to 1942 are personal to Mary Arthur Billups (Prince), whereas the third scrapbook dating from 1941 to 1944...

Scope and Contents Nine June 1968 to April 1977 scrapbooks covering each season of plays and other productions at the Norfolk Theatre Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The scrapbooks include clippings, theater programs and playbills, advertisements, calendars, booklets, budgets, meeting minutes, photographs, correspondence, and other materials collected by Hugh Bergeron during his time as an actor and active Board member. Circa 1914-1918 business and personal correspondence belonging to Richard A. Old of Norfolk, Virginia. The collection also includes photographs of the Monticello Hotel fire aftemath in 1918, account books for R. A. Old & Company from 1936-1937, and the diary of Richard A. Old, Jr. from 1930-1937.

Three 1930s scrapbooks primarily consisting of programs and newspaper clippings relating to the Ruehe Music Studio in Norfolk, Virginia. The scrapbooks include advertisements, radio show information, announcements for recitals, and church bulletins. Scrapbook 1 includes one page of photographs.

Scope and Contents

Contains a variety of ephemeral materials relating to Norfolk history and culture. Prominent subjects in the collection include Biographies, Buildings, Businesses, Churches, Clubs and Organizations, Colleges, Museums (especially the Chrysler Museum), Neighborhoods, and Schools. The bulk of the materials are from the 1950s-1980s, although there is a strong representation of materials dating from the 1920s to 2014.
