Twelve 1911 photographs and four 1924 photographs featuring scenes from the Oceanfront at Virginia Beach, Virginia. Subjects include the United States Life Saving Station, the Arlington Hotel, Virginia Beach Public Library, and ship figureheads "Miss Dictator" and the "Norwegian Lady."

This collection contains resource materials, such as directories, maps, and reports pertaining to the City of Norfolk.  Specifically included is a directory entitled "A Guide to the Librariers of the Virginia Peninsula" as a resource guide for the Larchmont Branch Library in Norfolk, Virginia; a Master Street Index, revised march 1990 with maps; a flood insurance map for the City of Norfolk, Virginia; and, a final report entitled "Urban Land Institute Study of East Ocean View".

Scope and Contents Thirty-five scrapbooks chronicling the history of Norfolk Public Library in Norfolk, Virginia from 1896 to 2003. The collection includes scrapbooks of newspaper clippings about the history of the Library in chronological order, with gaps from 1972-1974. The Sargeant Memorial Collection Postcard Collection houses postcards from the Norfolk area, Hampton Roads, Richmond, Washington, D.C., the state of Virginia and surrounding states, and the Jamestown Exposition. Some postcards in the collection are postmarked from the early 1900s.
