Correspondence, photographs, clippings, and other materials originally belonging to Edwin Robeson MacKethan, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia. Topics are separated by theme: A. history of Norfolk banks, B. tunnels, bridges, and highways, C. other career items, D. banking, especially when MacKethan was President of the Trust Division of the American Bankers Association, and E. MacKethan's campaign for election to the Virginia House of Delegates. Most of the materials date from the 1950s to 1971.

Scope and Contents Twenty-one scrapbooks of Norfolk and Virginia Beach-related genealogy, the history of Norfolk and the Hampton Roads region, and the construction of tunnels and highways in the 1950s-1960s in the Tidewater area of Virginia.
