One 1800s handwritten cookbook filled with recipes for breads, cakes, puddings, pies, cookies, and pickles. The cookbook also contains a remedy for the summer complaint and a clipping on poisons and antidotes.
Allmand Family Papers
Primarily nineteenth century correspondence, legal documents, memorandums, photographs, and miscellaneous papers from the Allmand Family of Norfolk, Virginia. Also includes three 1828-1843 ledger books of John Allmand, one 1837-1840 letter book of John Allmand, and one book of religious interpretation, likely written by Reverend John Singer Wallace. This collection also includes legal documents from the Estate of William Keeling and the Stone family.

Popular subjects discussed in her personal accounts include: travel, boys, dances, plays, and "tea parties." A majority of her diary entries take place in Paris, France and Saint Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands.

Primarily 1930s correspondence from Mary Hope Harcum at State Teachers College in Fredericksburg, Virginia to her mother, Christie Barker Harcum, at 1055 Hanover Avenue in the neighborhood of Larchmont in Norfolk, Virginia. Also included are greeting cards, two photographs, a 1931-1932 program card, two small calendars dated 1931 and 1932, a recipe for plain cake, two obituaries, and a January 1922 clipping from The Woman's Magazine.
Margaret Riddick's Baked Beans Recipe
One recipe for baked beans to serve 10-12 individuals. The recipe lists ingredients with amounts and cooking directions. The recipe was written on letter-sized memo paper featuring the Retail Store Employees Union in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. The bottom of the page identifies this recipe as "Margaret Riddick's recipe."
