The scrapbook includes prints of birds' eye views of Newport News, street views of Washington Avenue, and views of Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. There are also prints of Cape Charles Lighthouse, Uncle Mike in a wagon, and Old Church Tower in Jamestown, Virginia.

The Sargeant Memorial Collection Postcard Collection houses postcards from the Norfolk area, Hampton Roads, Richmond, Washington, D.C., the state of Virginia and surrounding states, and the Jamestown Exposition. Some postcards in the collection are postmarked from the early 1900s.

The collection includes news clippings on various topics and places across Virginia. It is divided into three main sections: general Virginia subjects; Virginia counties; and Virginia cities, towns and places. Each section is organized into sub-topics as appropriate. The collection also includes a section on North Carolina and several other states.
