Maury High School Memorabilia Collection

Scope and Contents

This collection contains Maury High School memorabilia inserted inside of two yearbooks, The Blue Book from 1916 and The Commodore from 1917.  The official yearbook for Maury High School changed its name from The Blue Book to The Commodore between years 1916 and 1917.  The memorabilia includes labels identifying people in group portraits, commencement programs for the graduating class of 2017, and a portrait photograph of a woman holding an infant.

A collection of two graduation diplomas for student Elizabeth "Bessie" Stevenson Taylor, received from the Leache-Wood Seminary in June 1893 and the College of William and Mary in September 1932.  Additional research materials about the Leache-Wood Seminary and Annie Cogswell Wood are included.  The diploma from the College of William and Mary is written in Latin.

C. A. Neff and T. David Fitz-Gibbon Architectural Perspective Drawing

Scope and Contents

The drawing drafted by J.A. Parks depicts the Arena Stage/Center Theater complex from the northeast of an Army and Navy Recreation Building designed by architects C. A. Neff and T. David Fitz-Gibbon, circa 1941-1943.  The building is designed in the international style with some streamlined modern elements.  Construction of the building is reinforced concrete with Indiana limestone cladding and glass block fenstration arranged in vertical and horizontal ribbons.
