Includes 246 card photographs, mostly portraits, and also some topical subjects (such as building interiors). About 50 of the cards in this collection are annotated. Also includes cartes de visite, or visiting cards, that visitors would leave at a host's home or business. Card photographs were a popular way to display the typically fragile photographic prints of the late 1800s and early 1900s. In them, the print is glued to a durable paper card which may carry information about the subject and the photo studio.
