Biographical or Historical Information

The Norfolk Public Library formally began as the Norfolk Library Association in 1870. It became the Norfolk Public Library in 1894. In 1944, the Norfolk Public Library became part of the City of Norfolk. The Board of Trustees was first referred to as the Board of Directors, but began using the term "trustees" in mid-1983.
