City of Norfolk House Numbers Books
Scope and Contents
Two circa June 1913 books of house numbers for the City of Norfolk, Virginia, showing house numbers prior to 1896, house numbers from 1896-1912, and the renumbering of house numbers in 1912. One of the books was presented by Walter H. Taylor, Jr., Assistant City Engineer. The other book was autographed on the front inside cover: "Jordan A. Pugh, Citizens Bank Bldg., Norfolk." The volumes are organized alphabetically by street name and sub-divided on each page by west side and east side of the street. The 1895, 1896, and 1912 house numbers are listed (if the house existed), and the owner name is provided. The volumes also list street intersections. The two volumes vary slightly.
