Local, state, and national-level promotional materials and publications from the American Revolution Bicentennial in 1976. Prominent newsletters in the collection include Norfolk Bicentennial News (1975-1976), Virginia Bicentennial Newsletter (1971-1977), and Bicentennial Times (1974-1976). The collection also includes kits of promotional materials compiled by The American Revolution Bicentennial Commission for the City of Norfolk. Finally, there are clippings documenting the activities, celebrations, and history of the bicentennial, particularly in Norfolk and Hampton Roads, Virginia.

Eleanor Capin, The American Revolution Bicentennial Commission for the City of Norfolk, Daughters of the American Revolution (Great Bridge Chapter), Norfolk Public Library staff, American Heritage Society, Governor Godwin. The clippings were likely compiled by Norfolk Public Library staff. Mrs. Wingo, Great Bridge Chapter, DAR, donated Official Master Register of Bicentennial Activities and duplicate copies of bicentennial newsletter in June 1975. American Heritage Society donated 1976 Bicentennial Desk Calendar in October 1975. Book, Celebration of the Bicentennial in Virginia, Mills E. Godwin, Jr. donated by the governor on January 27, 1977.
