Biographical or Historical Information
David Miers Conwell (1921-2004) was born to Bessie Conwell (1881-1948) and William Wilson Conwell (1878-1947) in Norfolk, Virginia on February 25, 1921. David attended Maury High School before serving in the United States Navy during World War Two. During the war, David participated in the amphibious assault on Morocco, Kwajelein, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and he survived the torpedoing of two ships and the aerial assault of a third ship. After the war, David had a long career with Alcoa where he held management positions in Venezuela, Trinidad, Mobile, Washington, D. C., and New York City. David married Helen Duggar Conwell (1922-), and they had two sons, William Yeates Conwell and Benjamin Duggar Conwell.
